Awo Falokun Fatunmbi is a Babalawo in the Ifa Orisha tradition, an Ifa scholar and theologian. He has over 30 years of experience in the Ifa Orisa Tradition. He has written over 20 books, numerous articles, and publications exploring and expounding upon the tradition of Ifa and the Yoruba religion. He is considered one of the most influential writers of the faith because of his ability to teach complicated indigenous concepts to a Western audience. He is also considered one of the esteemed elders who promoted traditional approaches to Ifa based in Africa when Lucumi, one of its branches established in Cuba, was more popular in the West. With his first book Iwa Pele, Fatunmbi brought more awareness of the importance of developing good character in the tradition. His following books expounded in concepts such as Divination, Ori, Warriors, Egun, Ancestral practices, the Orisa, Oriki, and so much more.
The point of initiation is to give people access to their full potential as human beings. The first step is aligning yourself to a good character, “Iwa Pele.” Initiation balances your head, your heart, and the left and right sides of the brain, opening your consciousness to the 256 portals of the sacred Odu, thereby giving one an experience of connecting to their higher self. In this mystery school, you will learn the prayer cycles and Increase your ability to commune with spirit. If you have ever heard of the iching (which used 64 hexagrams), this system is four times the information and potency. Initiatives will receive a reading that will pinpoint their guardian Orisa (godhead) or aspect of nature their higher self chose before incarnating. Initiates will learn how to start divination with a system our ancestors used to solve problems using the organic computer system of Yoruba, which is over 10,000 years old.
