As regulatory pressure builds, the call to decouple Chrome from Google grows louder. But such a move, while framed as a pro-competition fix, risks fracturing one of the internet’s most critical platforms. Chromium, which underpins Chrome, is foundational to modern browser security, AI-driven search innovations, and open web standards. A forced separation could unsettle this fragile balance.

According to Greyhound Research, the real issue isn’t Chrome — it’s Android. The platform's entrenchment with Google services limits true user choice far more than Chrome’s search bundling ever did. If regulators seek meaningful change, they must target the opaque default ecosystems within Android, not dismantle a functioning backbone of the web.

In this episode, Greyhound Research dissects:

00:00 – Introduction – The Risks of Separating Chrome from Google

00:14 – Greyhound In News – As quoted in ComputerWorld.com

01:16 – Why Separating Chrome from Google Could Reset—and Risk—AI Search

02:23 – The Hidden Trade-Offs of Licensing Google Search Data

03:45 – The Global AI Chessboard: Why U.S. Remedies Must Balance Openness and Strength

04:56 – Analyst In Focus – Sanchit Vir Gogia

05:36 – Greyhound Research Copyright Policy
