In this episode of the Healing Doesn't Have To Be Heavy podcast, host Angie Barrett, a trauma-informed coach and child abuse survivor, shares her personal journey of healing from trauma. She discusses the various forms of trauma, the impact it has on life choices, and the importance of play and movement in the healing process. Through her experiences, she emphasizes the significance of community support and practical exercises to bridge the mind-body connection, ultimately encouraging listeners to find joy and hope in their healing journeys.

Angie Berrett (she/they), founder of Angie Berrett Movement, understands what it feels like to believe you are broken and unlovable. For years, she carried the weight of childhood sexual abuse—a pain so deep it felt like a black hole inside. Despite building a career as a Registered Nurse, dedicated to caring for others, no amount of outward success could heal the wounds she carried within.

In 2017, everything came crashing down, leading to rock bottom. It became clear that something had to change. Searching for healing, Angie explored countless methods, but none provided the transformation she longed for.

That changed when she discovered the power of play, movement, and imagination. These tools became a lifeline, allowing her to process years of emotional and physical pain. With every movement, another layer of resilience was unlocked. Healing was no longer about just surviving—it became a pathway to thriving.
