This week, as part of our Code to Care series on artificial intelligence in medicine, we’re asking a critical question: Can AI help close the healthcare access gap in Africa — and if so, how?

To unpack this, I’m joined by someone who’s been leading that conversation for years: Dr Ernest Darkoh, co-founder of Vantage Health Technologies and a passionate advocate for digital innovation in public health.

From tackling HIV, TB, and COVID-19, to building real-time data systems and predictive tools for frontline clinicians, Vantage Health is demonstrating how AI can be more than just a buzzword — it can be a tool for equity, efficiency, and smarter care.

In this discussion, we’ll look at:

    • How AI is being used to strengthen clinical decision-making and improve patient follow-up in real-world situations

    • What value-based care looks like in resource-constrained settings

    • Why human-centred design matters in building trust and adoption

    • And how local innovation is reshaping African health systems from the ground up

    • What's next for AI-driven healthcare in Africa

Be part of the conversation - join us and let’s turn Code to Care.
