Julie Artis welcomes Elizabeth Duvivier, founder of Squam Art Workshops. They discuss the founding of Squam, how it has evolved, and how Elizabeth - somewhat surprisingly - found herself leading creative retreats and a large community of like-minded souls.

In this interview, you’ll hear about:

  • The origins of Squam Art Workshops, a creative retreat that began as a one-time event but grew into a global community.

  • Elizabeth and Julie discuss major life changes, including career shifts and divorce, emphasizing the importance of listening to one's inner voice.

  • Following your intuition and making decisions that resonate deeply - in life and work - even if they go against conventional wisdom.

  • How Squam adapted during the pandemic, creating an online community to maintain connections and support.

Elizabeth’s bio:

Elizabeth Duvivier is the author of Stories For My Sister. She is a writer, painter, teacher, dog nut, meadow walker, and someone who has been known to walk out into the garden and forget she has left oatmeal cooking on the stove (read: oatmeal scorcher).

She loves long lazy hours to write (for days and days), wild pagan dinner parties, the smell of grated ginger, and wandering into the mystic, among other things.

In 2008, she founded Squam Art Workshops and has hosted more than 37 art retreats for the specific purpose of nurturing our hearts with creative play in a beautiful, natural setting.
