In 1985, French intelligence agents bombed Greenpeace’s flagship vessel, the Rainbow Warrior, while it was docked in New Zealand — killing a crew member and sparking an international scandal. The mission, codenamed Opération Satanique, was designed to silence anti-nuclear protests in the Pacific. Instead, it exposed a covert act of state sabotage by a Western ally.
