Republicans urged by the president have launched a gerrymandering war in Texas in an attempt to keep control of the US House by creating more assuredly deep red voting districts. So how should Democrats respond. Albany Times Union editorial writer Jay Jochnowitz argues that Dems should not try to out-compete in a dirty politics contest. Blue states like California and New York threatening to ignore their own citizens who overwhelmingly favor fair elections and carve up their voting maps to give their party more victories are betraying democracy -- just the same as Republicans.
