Hear about the many services offered by RISSE, Refugee & Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus, to help "newcomers" adjust to life in their new country. Daniel Butterworth, Executive Director, overviews the programs and discusses how the local non-profit collaborates with other agencies in the area, including USCRI (US Committee on Refugees and Immigrants). He explains how cuts in federal funding have not yet affected his agency directly, but that reductions at USCRI have increased the demand for services at RISSE. He also considers the possibility of shifts in New York State funding should the state lose federal dollars due to its support for newcomers.
