Episode Summary

Forgiving those who have wronged us is often one of the hardest things that we as Christians must do, especially when those people continue to lie and spread false information about us.

Jesus spoke very clearly about loving our enemies and forgiving those who have wronged us. In Matthew 5:44, He said “...love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you”, and then in Matthew 6:15, “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

The Importance of Forgiving Your Enemies

When Jon was unjustly sent to prison, he found himself fighting feelings of hatred, bitterness, and anger towards the court system. But it didn't stop there, there were pastors in his hometown who had taken delight in his demise and began acting unbecomingly of fellow brothers in Christ. It was through this that the Lord began showing Jon that he needed to let go of these feelings of anger and ultimately the importance of forgiving your enemies.

"See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;"
