Healing Birth Trauma and Trusting Your Body with Emmy Robbin
Manage episode 479796361 series 2426873
In this incredibly eye-opening episode of the I Heart My Life Show, Emily welcomes Emmy Robin, a passionate birth keeper and advocate for undisturbed physiological birth. Emmy shares her journey from working in the hospital system as a certified doula to breaking free and reclaiming the sacred, natural power of birth at home. They dive into the differences between doulas and midwives, why hospital births often interrupt a woman's natural intuition, and how trauma—even subtle interventions—can impact a mother’s connection with her baby. Emily also shares her own personal home birth story, and Emmy offers insights that reveal hidden patterns many women don't even realize affect their experience. If you're curious about the deeper meaning of birth, women's sovereignty, and how we can honor the innate wisdom of the body, this conversation will change the way you see the entire birth process.
In This Episode, You'll Learn:
Why Emmy calls herself a birth keeper instead of a doula
The hidden traumas caused by common birth interventions
What truly undisturbed physiological birth looks like — and why it matters
The crucial role of the vagus nerve in labor and postpartum
How subtle messages during pregnancy can impact a woman’s experience
Why home birth can be safer, healthier, and more empowering than many believe
The deep importance of education, empowerment, and radical responsibility in birth
Emily’s honest reflection on her own home birth experience (and what she learned)

About the Host :
Host, Emily Williams is a success coach, author, speaker, and CEO of multiple brands.
After falling into a quarter-life crisis and struggling through a string of low-paying jobs (including serving up lattes at Starbucks), she finally decided it was time to follow her heart. So she packed her bags, moved to London (where she knew no one), and launched her own coaching business, I Heart My Life (without knowing if she’d ever make a dime). And that’s when her whole life changed course.
In her first month in business, Emily earned $442. She then went on to hit 6 figures before her 30th birthday, and—after just 18 months—successfully scaled what she'd started to a multi-million dollar empire.
Today, she remains the CEO of I Heart My Life, which has evolved into a media, educational and lifestyle brand through which she carries out her mission of helping thousands of women worldwide to create a life better than their dreams.
