Welcome to Season 3 - Episode 8!
This week, my sister Kirrah joins me to explore Chicago’s explosive Red Summer of 1919. We unpack the racial tensions that triggered Eugene Williams’ death, discuss the violence that erupted after, and connect how these historic struggles reflect the political divides we still grapple with today.
The poison in this episode is the Crooked Cowboy.
If you want to drink with us, you will need bourbon, ginger beer, grapefruit juice and maple syrup.
The recipe for the Crooked Cowboy is as follows:
2 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz Grapefruit juice
1 tbsp Maple syrup
Ginger Beer
Shake the bourbon, grapefruit juice and maple syrup with ice in a cocktail shaker, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with a cherry.
Enjoy!
