Trevor Loudon, one of the most authoritative experts on communist movements, joins the Impunity Observer to discuss US President Donald Trump's recent nominations. A key figure raising concerns is Tulsi Gabbard, who served as a Democratic representative from Hawaii in Congress from 2013 to 2021. After switching to the Republican Party in 2024, Trump nominated her to be director of national intelligence. Loudon explains that Gabbard's former affiliation with the Democratic Party is not necessarily a red flag. What raises alarms for him is her alignment with Russian foreign-policy priorities. For Loudon, Gabbard is a land mine waiting to go off and sully the Trump administration. He believes she could assist Russia's pursuit of an anti-US global agenda, which includes a multipolar international order—favoring China, Iran, and Russia.
