Bio - Our guest G (Gamal Turawa) is a storyteller with a personal tale of adversity and challenge that shaped the man and his mission.

G is a D+I (Diversity and Inclusion) facilitator, speaker, and coach. Through his company, Purplefrog Connections Ltd, he delivers thought provoking workshops and presentations to both public and private sector organisations as well as making a number of appearances on TV and Radio, including ITV’s Good Morning Britain and making a regular contribution to features on the BBC.
His voice has a depth that comes from a life rich with experiences that gives his talks a profound message that self-limiting beliefs, perceptions and prejudices when addressed can be powerfully changed in a way that not only impacts the individual but those lives they touch. It’s not about perfection it’s about growth.
He is an advisory friend to the Institute of Equality and Diversity Professionals, a graduate of The Institute for the Development of Human Potential and of the Hoffman Process.
He is an associate trainer for the European Fundamental Rights Agency and the Central European Police College for whom he has delivered workshops in Berlin, Krakow, Lyon and other international locations.
For the past ten years he has co-designed and delivered the Managing Diversity (step2) programme for European police leaders which is held annually in Vienna.
He was a police officer for 26 years in London's Metropolitan Police Service where he also came out as the UK's first openly gay Black police officer.
During his service he facilitated workshops as part of national initiatives implemented by the National Police Improvement Agency to increase D+I awareness and practices supporting both frontline and executive leaders. As well as delivering bespoke leadership programs specifically designed for minority groups (The Positive Action Leadership Programme).
He now delivers online (and in person with the appropriate restrictions) presentations and workshops. He coaches Senior executives in one on one sessions on how to navigate the D+I maze utilising a series of safe and confidential conversations along with awarenesses stretching experiential exercises.
Amongst his regular clients are a number of UK Police services, Nestle, RAF, The Intelligence Services, Cadent Gas and Thames Water as well as collaborating with Saybrook University, California for the 'Global Voices for Change 'project.
