COVID and Valley Fever Updates

If you’ve been feeling under the weather, you’re not alone. The latest variant of COVID-19 has been on the rise across the Southwest, with the CDC reporting the highest rates in the country. Dr. Dean Blumberg is the Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UC Davis Health. With back-to-school in full swing, we’ll hone in on community spread in our area, as well as learn about the new cases of Valley Fever across the San Joaquin Valley following a record high year of illnesses.

Sacramento Republic Stadium Breaks Ground

Construction on Sacramento Republic FC’s new home in Sacramento’s Downtown Railyards neighborhood is officially underway. City officials, team representatives and members of the Wilton Rancheria tribe held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for the new 12,000 seat stadium and entertainment district, despite the scrapping of an expanded financing plan for the project. CapRadio Communities Reporter Tony Rodriguez talks about the impact of this new development in Sacramento, as well as the controversial Upper Westside project in Natomas which county supervisors will vote on tomorrow.

Jazz Guitarist Ross Hammond

Sacramento jazz guitarist Ross Hammond is celebrating the release of a new album - Senior Dog Appreciation Society - as he heads back to the classroom to inspire the next generation of musicians. We’ll listen to music from the new release, and hear what it’s like to work with students today. A release party is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 21 at 58 Degrees & Holding in Sacramento.
