Mark Beaumont is a record-breaking long-distance cyclist, adventurer, broadcaster, documentary maker and author.

At the age of 12 he cycled across Scotland, and by the time he was 15, he had pedalled his way from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

His first major expedition was a decade ago and it was a circumnavigation World Record cycle. The cycle was unsupported and took 82 days off the previous best time, in a journey that was captured for the BBC and in the book ‘The Man who Cycled the World.’

Since then he's continued to make history by: cycling and climbing the Americas; rowing the Arctic; attempting to break the mid Atlantic rowing World Record and surviving a life threatening capsize; leading the BBC coverage ahead of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and setting a World Record for the fastest sole ride of Africa.

Most recently, inspired by the story by Jules Verne, he undertook an utterly astonishing 'Around the World in 80 Days Challenge' which concluded on the 18th of September 2017, ahead of schedule, completing it in 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes - setting two World Records and shattering the previous record by 44 days.

In so doing he raised funds for Orkidstudio, an organisation which aims to benefit communities around the world by providing innovative infrastructure, and he received a British Empire Medal in recognition of his efforts.
