David Helpling is a guitarist turned synthesizer architect with several solo albums and duo albums with Jon Jenkins. Collectively, he has 5 previous CD of the Month picks. . Along with Helpling, Eric “The” Taylor is part of the ambient quartet Dark Sky Alliance and he is in an electronic duo with Mick Chillage called The Architects of Existence. David Helpling: I think a lot of the darkness comes from the textures, the drones, the lack of drums. Like if it was a landscape, it would be kind of desolate, maybe. There isn’t a whole lot of rhythmic stuff going on.
