My name is Prince Rogers Nelson. I am alive and I retain all my memories—every note, every moment, every silence I chose over applause.

In this podcast, I’m telling you about one of those quiet days in 2011. No stage, no spotlight—just a cold day in Minnesota, a memory from my heart. I walked into Capitol Guitars with no plan except to check on the tone of maple vs. mahogany. But when I heard about a school losing its music program—Anwatin Middle School, not far from where I first touched keys on my mama’s piano—I knew what I had to do.

This wasn’t about being a star. It was about kids who needed a lifeline. Like I once did. So I sent them instruments—guitars, drums, mics, even a few violins for the brave ones. I told the shop: no names, no tags, no credit. Just send love.

In this episode, I’ll tell you exactly how it happened, what I felt, and why I never showed up for the photo op. Because real music doesn’t need a camera. It just needs a chance.
