Back in 2000, British Gas (now Shell) discovered the Gaza Marine Gas Field, 36 km offshore. It holds 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas—enough to transform any economy.

Yet 24 years later, it remains untouched. Why?

Technically, under international law, the Palestinian Authority has sovereign rights to the field. It’s fully within Palestine’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

Now, add the weakening petrodollar into the picture. The U.S. dollar once ruled global oil and gas sale, but that grip is loosening.

• China & Russia use yuan/rubles

• Iran & India trade in rupees/barter

• Saudi Arabia may accept yuan for oil
