The trial date has been set for Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small on charges that he assaulted his daughter. The Democrat will head to court on Nov. 10 — the week after Election Day. Small is running for a second term. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Small rejected a plea deal that would have forced him to resign to avoid prison time. Small's wife, La'Quetta, the Atlantic City schools superintendent, is also charged in the assault case. The Inquirer reported she turned down a plea deal that would have put her behind bars for five years. Her trial is set for Dec. 1. (Photo credit: Edwin J. Torres/NJ Governor’s Office via Flickr)
