Matthew 24 records Jesus’ prophetic teaching about the end times, often called the Olivet Discourse. As Jesus leaves the temple, His disciples ask when the destruction of the temple and the end of the age will happen. He warns them of false messiahs, wars, famines, earthquakes, and persecution, which are only the beginning of birth pains. Jesus describes great tribulation, the coming of the Son of Man with power and glory, and urges readiness, as no one knows the day or hour. He ends with parables emphasizing watchfulness and faithfulness until His return.
