At the London Olympics in 2012 and in 2008 in Beijing Markus won the Gold Medal with the German Men’s National Team. In 2004 in Athens he also won the Gold Medal with the German Women’s National Field Hockey Team thus becoming the first coach in field hockey history to win an Olympic Gold medal in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions. Having successfully qualifying with the men's team for Rio 2016, Markus left hockey in 2015 to serves as head of concept development for DFB football academy. As a club coach in the German Bundesliga (1st Division) he was the head coach for many years with TSV Mannheim. He was awarded coach of the Year in 2011 by the German Olympic Sports Association. In 2011 and 2013 he became European Champion with the Men’s Field Hockey Team and 2 x World and European Champion with the Men’s Indoor Hockey Team. A Dutch hockey legend, Janneke retired as a professional hockey player in 2010, having won Olympic Gold (Beijing) and Silver (Athens), in addition to one World Cup Gold (2006), one European Gold (2005) and 3 Champions Trophies (2004, 2005, 2007). Post retirement, Schopman became the head coach for the women's squad of the Dutch club SCHC . In 2014, she led the team to their first appearance in the final of the Hoofdklasse, the top league in The Netherlands. In 2014 Schopman was assigned to be the head coach for the U21 US Women's National Team and assistant coach for the United States women's national field hockey team under Craig Parnham . David joined Dublin City University in 2012 following 13 years in elite sport working first with British and then Irish Hockey where he had coached at all levels achieving success at European (U21 Silver and U18 Gold) level. He was Head Coach to the Irish Senior Men's team for four years leading them from 25th to 18th in the world rankings. Since 2008 David was High Performance Director of Irish Hockey whilst also overseeing the development of a new player development model and coach education system. David also worked as teacher for seven years and worked as a consultant with the Irish Institute of Sport on their Elite Coach Education program (Pursuit of Excellence Programme) and the International Rugby Board in their development of high performance systems.
