Stepping into our new "Sobervation studio" for our milestone 10th episode, we're celebrating with upgraded equipment and a special Q&A format that dives deep into our drinking past and sober present.
This raw, unfiltered conversation reveals the uncomfortable truths about who we were during our drinking days. Rich confesses that Eric was "as fun a drunk as could be—there was just no off switch," while Eric remembers Rich as simply "louder" after a few drinks. We share the mortifying story of being surrounded by police cars after a drunken argument in the car, just one block from home, and how that close call changed our relationship with alcohol.
The most powerful moments come when we discuss what would shock our past drinking selves about our sober lives today. Eric's commitment to daily workouts and building Sobervation would stun his drinking self, while Rich never imagined he could enjoy football games without beer. In a vulnerable admission, Rich shares: "I was literally afraid that sober Eric would not like me," exposing the deep insecurity that sometimes accompanies the journey to sobriety.
We tackle common misconceptions about sobriety—that it's boring, the end of your social life, easy, or something you simply conquer once and for all. Our experience proves the opposite: sobriety has opened doors to versions of ourselves we never knew existed.
Whether you're questioning your relationship with alcohol or supporting someone who is, this episode offers an honest look at the messy, beautiful reality of building a life after drinking. Subscribe to join us on this journey where we're figuring it out one day at a time.
