According to Brenee Brown, shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging—something we’ve experienced, done, or failed to do makes us unworthy of connection.

In this episode were talking about how listening circles can help to reduce the amount of shame we feel. How being witnessed can help us to accept and find love for ourselves. We also talk about how shame shows up for professional space holders, and how we can manage these difficult feelings in our work.

My guests are Julia Davis and Tessa Venuti Sanderson, who’s new book ‘Circle Holding: a practical guide to Facilitating talking Circles’ is available to pre-order now.

Julia is co-founder of Circle Holding and runs training and mentors people who want to facilitate groups and circles. She is founder of Yoga Teachers Forum and has facilitated hundreds of continued development trainings and community support events for yoga teachers. In her local Finchley Yoga community she has a specialisation of Women’s Health Therapy

Tessa has been running talking circles including trainings, retreats and festivals. She currently runs a women’s circle a pregnancy and postnatal circle and has run various mother/daughter and puberty circles. She's also a senior yoga teacher and trainer (specialising in pregnancy yoga CPD),
