Erin Ellis from Hutchinson Community College joins us to discuss her journey as an athletic advisor who provides guidance and support to student athletes from diverse backgrounds.
• Started as a general advisor before transitioning to athletic advising
• Born and raised in Hutchinson, describes how the town was demographically divided during her childhood
• Played multiple sports growing up, including basketball and softball
• Earned degrees in sociology and rehabilitation counseling before finding her path

• Helps athletes navigate eligibility requirements for transfers to four-year institutions
• Describes success stories and disappointments with talented athletes who didn't follow through academically
• Functions as more than just an advisor - often serving as counselor and support system
