Episode 20 – Acts 16, part 2

Chapter 16 includes the incredible account of Paul and Silas being thrown into jail, without trial and on the basis of a false ‘crowd’ conviction followed by a beating from the magistrates. Their response is to pray and sing praises to God whilst being held in the stocks! This leads to an earthquake, and they’re miraculously released from the stocks, but instead of walking away, they eat with the jailer and bring him and his whole household to salvation!

There are many lessons for us in this passage; some key questions that God seems to be highlighting to us at the moment are:

1. What might make me susceptible to the pressure of a crowd?
2. What issues am I currently facing which are filling my mind, preventing me from ‘singing in the stocks’?
3. What’s my reason for ‘singing in the stocks’?
