Deuteronomy 15:11 – “For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, “You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.” " ദരിദ്രൻ ദേശത്തുഅറ്റുപോകയില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ദേശത്തു അഗതിയും ദരിദ്രനുമായ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്നുനിന്റെ കൈ മനസ്സോടെ തുറന്നു കൊടുക്കേണമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു."
The command which God gave to the Israelites 3400 years ago through Moses to help the needy and poor is still applicable to the entire humanity as God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. This is a big challenge to all in my observation. Each time we help the poor, God is honored a lot. At the same time we get blessed in many ways too. If we are able to help the poor and we ignore them purposely, there will be negative effects in our life. Helping the poor gives us the privilege to enter the kingdom of God along with other rewards. Let us think about our status in front of God in helping the poor.
