Stand firm = Don't give up
Contending = Don't give in
Not frightened = Don't shrink back

What can we expect from God?

2 Gifts = Granted: a privilege or "gracious gift" AND Struggle: Conflict, suffering, persecution

Six possible reasons we suffer:
