The New York Mets executed a very simple formula. They played great defense and Juan Soto hit two home runs. That fueled their 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, their first series since sweeping the Phillies a few weeks back.
This one started out as a pitchers duel, albeit a weird one. Kodai Senga battled through trouble in his first three innings of work, but ended the day with six scoreless innings.
Soto got the Mets on the board 1st with a HR in the 6th. And then, they broke things open in the 7th capped off with Soto's 2nd HR of the game.
It's back to New York for an off day before starting a weekend series with the Chicago Cubs.
