Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow overnight, with debris from one crashing near residential buildings, the city’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, said.
According to Sobyanin, there were no serious injuries or major damage at the site. Videos posted by Russian Telegram channels showed shattered windows at a nearby storefront.
Sobyanin reported drone attacks five times over the course of the night. Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses had intercepted or destroyed 105 Ukrainian drones across 11 regions, including border areas as well as the Samara, Lipetsk, Penza, Vladimir, and Kaluga regions. Nineteen drones were reportedly shot down over the Moscow region.
The attacks led to temporary flight suspensions at all four of Moscow’s airports. Flights were also halted in several other Russian cities, including Samara, Kazan, Yaroslavl, and Volgograd, according to a spokesperson for Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency.
