WELCOME TO SEASON 2 of MIDDAY MOVIES
Today we’re discussing the Oscar-winning animated film, “Flow” (2025). Directed by young Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, this multinational movie brought together animators from Latvia, Belgium, and France, was completed entirely in the free-to-use 3D modeling software Blender, and shipped only a few days before its premiere at Cannes Film Festival. The story follows an independent cat whose world is threatened by a massive flood, forcing him to find refuge on a boat populated by a capybara, lemur, secretary bird, and dog. Beautifully rendered and edge-of-your-seat thrilling, “Flow” is in fact the most widely distributed Latvian film in history. Currently streaming on MAX and with an inspiring story behind production, this is perhaps the most personal film of 2024. Let’s get into it!
