Engaging Students in Writing - Strategies to Increase Student Engagement [Ep. 20]
Manage episode 359211414 series 3411996
Teaching writing has always had its challenges—but helping students rebuild writing skills after the pandemic adds a whole new layer. In this episode, I reflect on how online learning impacted students' ability to write at grade level and why simply “returning to normal” isn’t enough. We need to meet students where they are, rebuild confidence, and provide meaningful support along the way.
I also share how I adapted one of my favorite writing activities, Dinner Party, into a whole-class project that feels manageable for today’s learners. You’ll hear how breaking writing into smaller, scaffolded pieces can help students reengage, reduce overwhelm, and develop stronger writing habits over time.
