In this episode, we delve into the life of former rugby league player Dayne Weston, whose journey from the highs of a successful NRL career to the lows of battling debilitating anxiety and depression is both inspiring and poignant. Dayne shares his personal struggles, including the impact of childhood trauma, performance-based love, and the challenges of a difficult divorce. Despite building a life he had always dreamed of, Dayne found himself unable to cope with the emotional pressures, leading him to reset his life and acknowledge his mental health struggles.

Through his own experiences, Dayne emphasises the importance of open dialogue and understanding surrounding mental health issues, both within sports and society. He reflects on the evolving approach to mental health within rugby league clubs, highlighting the positive influence of well-being teams and empathetic coaches. Dayne is now on a mission to transform the lives of children by teaching them mental well-being and shining the light of his faith brightly. He is also advocating for year-round mental health awareness and dispelling the stigma associated with seeking help, including his efforts to support men through Men of Gold.
