For those that are new around here, I release bonus episodes that serve a niche part of my audience so if this topic is something that doesn’t fit what you’re looking for, check out one of the hundreds of other episodes in the podcast archives OR join me back here next week for a conversation that you don’t want to miss!

Joining me today is licensed psychologist and dyslexia expert Dr. Lisa Rappaport to explore what it really looks like to support a child with dyslexia—at home, at school, and beyond.

Drawing from her own personal experience as a dyslexic learner and decades of clinical work, Dr. Rappaport shares insights from her new book, Parenting Dyslexia: A Comprehensive Guide to Helping Kids Develop Confidence, Combat Shame, and Achieve Their True Potential. Together, we unpack the emotional, academic, and systemic challenges that families often face and offer empowering strategies to build confidence, encourage independence, and advocate effectively within school systems.

Dr. Rappaport discusses the importance of early diagnosis, the power of phonetically-based learning programs, and how shifting the conversation around learning differences can help remove shame and stigma. Whether you're just beginning to seek answers for your child or deep in the trenches of IEPs and school meetings, this episode will leave you feeling seen, equipped, and full of hope.
