Manage episode 482824487 series 3644917
What if laughter could do more than just lighten the mood—what if it could actually help you grow? In this episode, we dive into podcast guest Marla Simlett's model of the world and explore how intentional humour can be a powerful tool for breaking down defensiveness, shifting perspective, and creating meaningful connection. From navigating tough conversations to transforming limiting mindsets, discover how laughter opens the door to personal and professional success.
Marla Simlett is a therapist, a professional speaker, and a self-declared Laughter Intelligence Facilitator.
She has had a long and varied career – starting out as a preschool teacher, child and youth care worker, going back to school at 30 to become a registered clinical counsellor and EAP program manager, and then moving into the world of corporate HR as a senior advisor and then manager focused on HR policy and program development.
And with all that under her belt, now, in what she likes to call her Act Three, she’s finally bringing together her lifelong passions – personal growth and laughter – some might say an unlikely combination. She’s here today to tell us about her mission to help people harness the power of laughter to be better and do better.
