Beach lovers and wave riders, get ready for a sizzling summer day along the New York coastline! Today's surf scene brings moderate rip current risks, so keep those safety skills sharp. Expect waves around 3 feet with surf temperatures in the mid-60s, perfect for catching some rays and riding some swells.
The UV index is blazing very high, so slather on that sunscreen and rock your favorite beach hat. We're looking at mostly sunny skies with just a whisper of potential thunderstorms - so minimal chance of getting rained out of your beach day.
Temperature-wise, we're talking upper 80s with heat indices pushing into the upper 90s. Southwest winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour will keep things interesting for windsurfers and kiteboard enthusiasts. Coney Island's tides are looking sweet, with a low at 11:20 AM and a gorgeous high tide rolling in at 5:53 PM.
Sunrise kicks off early at 5:26 AM, giving early birds plenty of time to catch those morning waves, while sunset lingers until a perfect 8:30 PM - plenty of daylight for beach adventures.
Quick heads up for water warriors: rip currents are moderate today, so swim smart. Always stay near a lifeguard, bring a flotation device, and remember - if caught in a current, stay calm and float, don't fight the water.
Monday looks even mellower with lower rip current risks, smaller 2-foot surf, and temperatures climbing to around 90 degrees. The heat index might hit a scorching 101, so hydration is key!
Stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy those New York waves!
