When Kevin Lyman started Warped Tour back in 1995, rock publications in America refused to hire black people as rock critics. Upon Warped Tour's return in 2025, rock publications in America still refuse to let black people be voices in rock journalism. As a result of this decades-long shutout, rock festivals in America still have a different point of view about black people.
