Weldon Rotenberg and Brian Rippee rewatched the 2014 Egg Bowl. They discussed the stakes of the game at the time, how a short-handed Ole Miss team won, what it meant in the long term, the direction of the two programs since, and much. The Rebels were No. 18 in the country entering the game and knocked off No. 4 Mississippi State, 31-17, ultimately sending Ole Miss to an access bowl in the first year of the College Football Playoff. It potentially kept the Bulldogs from the inaugural four-team playoff. Ole Miss started the season 7-0 before a 10-7 loss to LSU and a heartbreaking 35-31 loss to Auburn, when Laquon Treadwell suffered a devastating injury in the final moments. After a win over Presbyterian and a shutout, blowout loss to Arkansas, when quarterback Bo Wallace hurt his ankle, State remained on the schedule. Let's talk about it.
