Ten years ago, an idea was born to celebrate the Hausa language and culture every January 1st. Today, that idea has grown into World Hausa Day, celebrated across continents by millions of Hausa speakers.
But after a decade, one big question remains: has this celebration truly strengthened the Hausa language, or is the tongue of one of Africa’s largest ethnic groups slowly losing its purity, especially among the younger generation?
