Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Underrepresentation of women in music is nothing new. Female:Pressure released a report in 2013 that revealed that the average female representation at major music festivals was a dismal 8.4 per cent. However, some booking agencies and collectives are spearheading an effort to rebalance line-ups across the world. This episode of the Ninja Tune podcast finds Emma Burgess-Olson AKA Discwoman & Technicolour Record's UMFANG in conversation with Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, co-founder of Discwoman, a booking agency that exclusively represents cis women, trans women, and genderqueer artists.
