A Sligo garda and GRA spokesperson says more needs to be done to ensure Gardaí are not injured in the line of duty.

The interim Deputy General Secretary of the Garda Representative Association, James Morris-Roe made the comments after an officer in his 30s suffered serious injuries after being knocked down by a motorbike in Dublin yesterday, while on patrol.

It comes just weeks after Garda Kevin Flatley was killed while conducting a speed checkpoint.

A man, who was arrested has been charged and will appear before Blanchardstown District Court this morning.

The Keash native says the danger levels that member of the force are facing are increasing
