On his walk home from school, Anatoly Moskvin comes across figures in black robes carrying the coffin of a young girl. When he's caught watching the strange funeral procession, he's dragged to the girl's corpse and forced to kiss her on the face. This event is one of the moments that shaped Anatoly's interests and later, his obsession. His apartment would soon become occupied, doll by doll, all life-size and antique in appearance; but this wasn't just an innocent collection.
