In today’s episode, I’m joined by Debra Battistella, an occupational therapist and founder of Creative Concepts in Occupational Therapy PLLC. She’s a seasoned therapist with 20 years of experience working in physical and rehab medicine as a COTA and OTR, she also teaches and coordinates fieldwork in an OTA program. In more recent months, Debra has launched an online mirror therapy program to help rehab medicine OTs save time and improve patient outcomes. She’s also now a podcaster, co-hosting a show called The Noggins and Neurons Podcast, as she continues to find creative ways to BE in our profession!

In this episode we talk about:

  • Debra's love for learning and teaching
  • Innovative ways of doing fieldwork in response to some gaps created by the pandemic
  • Debra's fascination in technology and her idea of developing an ADL video library
  • How occupational therapy is thriving in the online space
  • OTs that are redefining how they show up in the world
  • The importance of having clear leadership
  • How Imposter Syndrome affected Debra and her sense of belonging as an OT
  • The significance of creativity in occupational therapy
  • What inspired Debra’s mirror therapy program
