This week on OUT Like a Light, John Scott returns from a starry retreat with a heart full of new story ideas. After a week away camping with his fiancé at a gay retreat, he brings us back to a tender childhood memory—pretending his bed was a space capsule drifting through the cosmos. That moment of imaginative comfort becomes the inspiration for tonight’s floating space meditation.

Then, in our bedtime story, “The Star on the Other End,” we follow a quiet queer soul who rediscovers their inner light after losing their job and wrestling with the weight of a world that doesn’t always feel welcoming. Through a chance connection with what they think is a distant star—spotted through an old backyard telescope—they begin a silent friendship that reminds them: the light they needed was never out there. It was inside them all along.

This episode is for anyone who’s ever looked up and wondered if they belonged out there more than they do down here. You are not broken. You are stardust. And you were never meant to dim.
