The party's decision comes amid major losses and deep internal division — and while some see it as a step forward for women, others believe it’s more about factional politics and a shift to the political centre.

But the gender question can’t be ignored, especially with the growing trend of women being handed leadership only during times of crisis — the so-called “glass cliff.” Is Ley being set up to fail, or is this a genuine attempt at change?
