On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the highly anticipated start to spring football 2025, where head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans have 15 practices to acclimate the new players and coaches in preparation for the upcoming season. As a former division one head football coach, Hyde talks about what he would like to see this team get done in the spring in order to get the program going in the right direction, competing for conference championships and a spot in the College Football Playoffs. USC lost a lot of close games last season, including five where the Trojans had a fourth quarter lead. Coach Hyde talks about what he feels this team needs to do in order to be prepared for the end of game scenarios, turning those close losses into victories (and ensuring the game isn't close against overmatched opponents).

Coach Hyde also gives his thoughts on the new-look roster with some prominent names missing and some promising new faces roaming the sidelines. From a deep and talented running backs room to a bigger and more athletic defensive line, the guys discuss where they think this team will be better on the field and where they feel they still need to improve. He also talks about the traditional spring game being removed and what Riley had to say about the reasoning behind it.
