Today’s episode is about The Ability Center Assistance Dogs Program. Perrysburg resident Stacie Baumbarger is my guest. Stacie is the Assistance Dogs Program Director. During our conversation, she talks about the three types of dogs the program offers, volunteer opportunities, and donation opportunities, including their amazon.com wish list. The Ability Center serves 13 counties in NW Ohio, including Wood County (home to Perrysburg, OH). The mission of The Ability Center includes increasing independence for people with disabilities and changing the community’s perception of disability. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of The Ability Center. The Ability Center is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of belonging by changing perceptions, and discovering true passions. The Assistance Dogs Program fits nicely into the Ability Center’s mission.
