What The New Government Administration Is Doing To Small Contracting Businesses
Manage episode 478568174 series 3646425
An important pillar in my mini business empire is the laundry business I run with my husband Copeland that launders and dry cleans materials for nearby government facilities. Now on the one hand, having a government contract is a great business move because it’s stable income from a regular client. But on the other, it means that every time the government changes, your business has gotta change too! Join me and Copeland as we discuss what some of the new government regulations mean for our small business – and for yours, too.
As a business that was awarded ‘set aside’ contracts that were designated for women, minorities and veterans, the roll-back in DEI initiatives has been huge for our laundry business, and not in a good way. And that’s before we even start to talk about the fact that the government is now allowing contracts to go to businesses with racially segregated facilities! We also go into what the changes to the federal minimum wage mean for our small business that needs to attract and retain more employees than a larger facility would.
If you’re feeling these changes too in your business, reach out and tell us how you’re managing. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Pivot & Profit podcast to learn more about what it takes to manage a successful business.
