In March 2018, Madeleine Black won the Amazing Strength award at the No. 1 Magazine Amazing Women Awards and, in October of the same year, was asked to be the Patron for Say Women, the Scottish organisation that supports survivors of sexual abuse. She is a TEDx speaker, a storyteller for The Forgiveness Project, and has recently become involved with their programme RESTORE, sharing her story in prisons. Madeleine recognises that she was a victim of a crime that left her silent for many years but has now found her voice and intends to use it, not just for her, but for so many who can’t find theirs yet. Madeleine joins me today to discuss why she eventually decided to share her story of sexual violence publicly and let go of what she saw as her shame. She explains how she uses her experience to help others and how her memoir, Unbroken, and her talks can help others realise that it isn’t healthy to hide or fight trauma. She shows that with work, it is possible to have a fulfilled life. Madeleine also shares why she decided to leave her job as a psychotherapist behind and make being a full-time speaker her primary role. “When we don’t speak out, we hold ourselves back.” Madeleine Black This week on The Power to Live More Podcast: Why Madeleine looked for a sign to guide her and confirm she was on the right path when she decided to transition into being a full-time speaker How not to get ‘zoomed out’ in the new way of working during the COVID-19 pandemic Why she decided to start her new podcast, Unbroken, and the message she hopes to share Why forgiveness was crucial in allowing her to move past her trauma How Madeleine integrates her business and her work life while quarantined Why it’s important to understand that self-care isn’t selfish and why it’s critical to set boundaries The importance of letting go of perfection when on webinars and Zoom calls How Madeleine cares for and grounds herself in nature How Madeleine’s background trauma helps her in her speaking and connecting with others Tips for staying resilient in challenging times Resources Mentioned: If You Sit Very Still by Marian Partington Connect with Madeleine Black: Madeleine Black website Unbroken: One Woman’s Journey to Rebuild a Life Shattered by Violence. An award-winning wellbeing coach, Pip Lawrence is the co-founder of DayOne Wellness, a company that focuses on dealing with the issue of health inequality in the UK. As a young achiever in the field of fitness and athletics, Pip has always been fascinated by the fact that health and wellbeing is the primary area where even the most successful professionals falter. After an 18-month period of living in 3 different continents, she returned to the UK, eventually developing the Recalibrate Wellbeing programme to enable busy professionals to lead longer, healthier, and happier lives, regardless of where they begin their fitness journey. Pip joins me today to discuss what motivated her to turn her talents and attention towards the health and wellbeing industry. She explains how life in the modern world — with all the advancements in technology and conflicting beliefs on how to stay fit and healthy — have made it exceedingly difficult to stay fit and healthy. She provides a bit of background on her meticulously crafted Recalibrate Wellbeing 12-step programme, as well as the tips and strategies she employs in her daily life to ensure a healthy balance between her professional responsibilities and personal wellness. She also shares her thoughts on conventional health and wellness wisdom, including meal scheduling; proper hydration; and having the right mindset, and how combining her two passions has helped her determine her purpose in life. “If you push your body to the limit where you’re not supporting it, at some point you’re going burn out, break down, get an injury, and get a disease.” Pip Lawrence This Week on The Power to Live More Podcast: How Pip was inspired to help people in the healthcare sector. What she and the DayOne Wellness movement have accomplished. How the ever-evolving world of technology has had a significant impact on our health. How people can be very dogmatic about a single approach to health and wellness activities, making it more difficult for others who want to achieve the same benefits through different means. How the Recalibrate Wellbeing 12-step programme supports people through behavioural change coaching and talks on exercise, nutrition, and general health. How Pip balances professional wellbeing and personal life. Her “VIP approach” for starting the day. How the right mindset can turn a bad day around, especially when it’s a day when you feel like nothing in your life has moved forward. How she starts every new year. Her take on the saying: ‘a person is a representation of the five people they spend the most time with’. Her top tips for staying healthy. Why it’s important to hydrate yourself with water first thing in the morning. The ideal time to stop eating during the day, and why. Why she believes that her mind and body need to be at equal levels of activity during the day and why one needs to catch up with the other whenever they aren’t. Her two biggest passions — traveling and empowering others — and how those are the two components of a good day for her. Paul Tokgozoglu realised early on that he simply wasn’t geared for a life-long career in the military or a 9-to-5 job. However, instead of resigning himself to that fate, he decided to change his circumstances by venturing into digital marketing, despite believing that he possessed no marketable skills. Now, he successfully runs Excelsior Industries, and Excelsior Industries, a company that specialises in effective business development services and solutions. He is also the host of the Beyond Homo Sapien podcast, which presents insightful views on human evolution with topics on AI, blockchain, and virtual reality as well as spiritual awakening and holistic living. Paul Tokgozoglu joins me today to share his unconventional path towards digital marketing and how he started from knowing absolutely nothing to mastering the art of creating digital content with relative ease. He explains the driving forces behind his separate business ventures and how they revolve around helping others develop a more positive view of the world around them. He also shares the practices he has adopted in order to become a successful digital marketer as well as the ways in which he keeps himself healthy and functioning at peak efficiency. “Whatever happens, whatever is going wrong in the external world, it’s impossible for it to be ‘bad’. Things might not go according to plan or some issue might come up, but whatever’s happening, it’s working out.” Paul Tokgozoglu This Week on The Power to Live More Podcast: Paul’s journey into digital marketing — while still being in the U.S. Army. His major realisations about 9-to-5 jobs in general. How a man with “no marketable skills for the digital age” successfully entered the industry. His first foray into podcasting and how it snowballed into a digital-based career. The skills you can develop as a podcaster. The Beyond Homo Sapien podcast and how it takes new approaches to looking at science. How quantum theory and the law of attraction are related. The Hindu concept of “consciousness vibrating” and how it may be one way to explain reality. What Excelsior Industries offers in the way of business development. Paul’s ultimate goal in networking and building a core group of great people. His obsession with keeping his Google Chrome folders and bookmarks organised. “Just in time” information versus “just in case” information. Paul’s process and tools for creating updates for his digital channels. How doing his podcast daily actually made the task easier (as opposed to weekly updating). How he keeps himself physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy. The challenges of being a high-functioning individual on the autism spectrum. Don’t be a slave to tools / bright shiny objects though, you don’t have to use them all! Zapier This is a tool that I’ve been using for a good while and seems to be getting more well known. It’s a tool that enables you to connect up other services, platforms and apps that you use to automate various processes. Automation is part of my fundamental ‘Systemise’; enabling you to get more done with ease by letting the system take the strain! To give you an example of how it can be used: when a guest for my podcast books in I have automation set up via Zapier so I appear professional, the guest gets what they need and the process to publish is kicked off efficiently. Basically, the guest clicks on a link and books in for an interview via a calendar tool called Timetrade at which point Zapier then adds a meeting into my calendar, creates a GoToMeeting session for it and then drafts an email with those details and my standard questions that pops into my drafts ready for me to send to the guest to confirm. It makes the process so smooth and much easier for me to administer. Before I had the automation set up I would procrastinate on asking people to join me on the show as it caused so much admin work, which was ridiculous! Organisation, Excel and Automating your Business from Jason Buckner, The Sales Automation Expert’ Listen Below and Here’s What We Recommended: Apps Duolingo – an app on your phone to learn a language through regular exercises and repetition. Tools Inbox Pause – to pause your gmail Inbox. You can continue to work in your email and read and send emails, you just don’t see the new emails during this time so it’s less distracting. Jason used and recommends Excel for project management not just for the usual spreadsheet type work. I’ve since found a tool called Smartsheet , which is a collaboration tool for businesses based on spreadsheets Camscanner – for scanning documents on the go on your phone or tablet so you can email documents in situ. You can also use it to fax (do people still do that?!) World Internet Office – a cloud based internet office. You can use this to grow an email list, as a shopping cart to process sales and to manage your customer details Other Resources Jason is following a course by Kerry Fitzgibbon to learn how to re-market on Facebook, which means using Facebook advertising to attract interested parties and then using the filtering to re-advertise to those people once they’ve ‘shown an interest’ in what you have to offer in some way (they may, for example, have clicked on a previous ad or have already visited your website). Cashflow , a game by Robert Kiyosaki to teach you about asset vs liabilities and how to become financially free. Also Cashflow for Kids , as above but for children (really?!) Books Fluent in Three Months by Benny Lewis – tips to learn any language in three months (you didn’t guess that did you?!) Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki Music Caro Emerald – jazz singer Tips Jason suggests using your email tool to triage your email inbox and flag emails by colour by urgency to signpost what you need to do to action them, and in what order To Contact Jason Get in touch with Jason and download his free report about automation https://www.automationmadeeasy.com.au/jo The post Jason Buckner: Organisation, Excel and Automating your Business first appeared on POWER to Live More .…
Madison Campbell is a sexual assault advocate and technology innovator on a journey to revolutionise how sexual assault is managed and to support survivors to take ownership of the process. She is the CEO of Leda Health Company , formerly known as MeToo Kits Company, which she co-founded in 2019 to create a system to solve the issues on how to deal with sexual assault holistically in the U.S. Madison and Leda Health are seeking to not only revolutionise forensic collection and testing, but to connect survivors with medical professionals and supportive communities who can help them continue the recovery process. Madison joins me today to share why she and her co-founder were inspired to start their business, what survivor justice means to her, and why it is so vital to support other women through sexual assault. She discusses the challenges of getting the funding needed to get the company off the ground and how useful using a business accelerator can be to explore your idea with your potential audience, so you know you have a viable business idea. Madison also shares her thoughts on the challenges of being an entrepreneur and why it is so much easier to keep going on the days when she faces rejection because she knows she is fighting for a personal cause that is near to her heart. “If you put all of the burden on yourself, you tend to fail even harder. If you can find somebody who is there for you at the very bottom, they’re a good person to have on your team.” Madison Campbell This week on The Power to Live More Podcast: Madison’s background in scientific research Why Madison chose not to report her assault and why she then felt she needed to dive deep and understand that choice The issues for underprivileged women in reporting sex crimes across the globe The problems in understanding the steps to take after an assault and how Leda Health aims to educate survivors Madison’s reflections on starting a business with so much purpose and the advantages and disadvantages of feeling so passionate about her cause The day-to-day tasks in the development of a new business Why being a CEO is not glamorous, especially during COVID-19, and why she misses in-person meetings How Madison built a talented and committed team and learned to be an effective leader How Madison learns and improves her skills Why she celebrates her wins with disco music Connect with Madison Campbell: Leda Health Company Website Leda Health Company on LinkedIn Leda Health Company on Instagram Leda Health Company on Facebook Leda Health Company on Twitter Madison Campbell on LinkedIn Join the POWER to Live More CALM Membership Attention home-based coaches and consultants!
