First Phosphate Corp. has announced a significant milestone in its mission to establish a localized lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supply chain in North America. CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share details on the company’s successful production and testing of commercial-grade LFP 18650-format battery cells made entirely from North American-sourced critical minerals. Passalacqua reported that the battery cell capacities measured during testing fully met original manufacturing specifications. Importantly, the cells demonstrated consistent retention of capacity at increasing discharge rates—an impressive result given that the production came from a small-scale development run using new materials without prior manufacturing history. The company also highlighted encouraging data on cycle life performance, with results projecting at least 80% capacity retention after 2,000 discharge cycles. This performance positions the PHOS-LFP 18650 battery cells as particularly well suited for high-performance applications that require both strong energy density and robust power output. Testing further revealed good relative voltage stability even under demanding conditions, including at discharge rates of up to 5C current, underscoring the durability and resilience of the cells. Passalacqua emphasized that this achievement demonstrates the potential of First Phosphate’s vertically integrated strategy—linking North American critical mineral resources directly to battery-grade LFP materials and commercial-grade cell production. By proving the viability of locally sourced and manufactured cells, the company has taken a key step toward reducing reliance on foreign supply chains while strengthening North America’s position in the fast-growing energy storage and electric vehicle markets. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqx #frspf #frspf #phosphate #CriticalMinerals #BatteryMaterials #LFPCathode #FirstPhosphate #CanadaMining #GreenEnergy #SupplyChain #QuebecMining #EVBatteries #dod
