Producer Diaries Podcast | Episode #34.
Jay Cactus, Ocean, and LLB join forces to bring you a brand-new weekly podcast where we talk about music production, content creation, life, and current events. In this episode we discuss the importance of life experiences and gratitude in our respective journeys. We reflect on how our past struggles and jobs we didn't enjoy have shaped our appreciation for our current success. We also discuss the pros and cons of working with artists and the importance of building our own brand. The conversation then shifts to the success of The Russell, an artist known for his independent and improvisational style, and his unique approach to shows and ticket sales. Devin primarily gets placements by sending out loops to other producers. He had a Dropbox and a Patreon where people could access his loops. However, he stopped doing this weekly loop release because he felt he was putting out too much content that he didn't necessarily like. He also mentioned that he plans his releases strategically to provide variety and avoid releasing similar content back-to-back. The conversation revolves around the recent controversies in the music production community. There is a discussion about the balance between genuine content creation and business-oriented approaches. We also talk about the effectiveness of different social media platforms for content promotion, with TikTok and Instagram being more generous with short-form views compared to YouTube. The idea of creating content without using popular sounds or techniques is also discussed. In the final part of the conversation, we talk about our most proud and least proud videos. We share personal stories and reflect on the unpredictability of video performance. We also touch on the importance of creating engaging content and the challenges of finding the right formula for success.
